After the welcome email, the next phase in the getting started experience is the introductory product walkthrough.
First Time Use Tour
This project addressed the lack of welcome experience for an existing product. The ideal version imagined the user interacting with the product as they went through the tour. The tour was purposely short so that it wouldn't overwhelm or annoy a user logging on for the first time, but would still touch nearly every part of the product in a single flow. Our users were experienced EDI specialists who wanted to dive in and begin work without a lot of hand-holding.
Partner Performance insights
Partner Performance Insights was a proposed add-on to Business Transaction Intelligence that never got past the development phase. I suggested using a tour bubble as an in-app “advertisement” directed at current BTI users. Above the standard BTI dashboard, the header would indicate a link to another dashboard. When the user clicks on the link, the bubble would inform them about the PPI add-on.
Once the user purchases PPI, they are greeted by a quick walkthrough that introduces them to the new dashboard.
